Frequently Asked Questions

General

How does Bluecycle work?

Bluecycle matches requests received for large furniture and household appliances from our beneficiaries with the items offered to us by our kind donors. When a match is found, our volunteers will contact the matched donor and recipient to arrange for the item(s) to be collected and delivered at a mutually agreeable time, usually on a Saturday.

Who are your beneficiaries and how do I know that my item(s) are going to the needy? Can I apply to be a beneficiary too?

Our beneficiaries are usually needy residents in Aljunied, Sengkang, Hougang, East Coast and Marine Parade constituencies whose needs have been assessed by our representatives. We seek your kind understanding that we will not be able to disclose the identity of our recipients.

You may contact your respective Member of Parliament and/or welfare representative for your needs to be assessed if you are a resident in the above  areas. Otherwise, you may reach out to our VWO partners.

How do I contact Bluecycle? Is there a number that I can call?

Please send us an email at donatebluecycle@wpcf.sg and we will try to respond to you as soon as we can. As we are run entirely by volunteers, we seek your understanding that there may be a delay in our response at times.

How do I support Bluecycle with either a monetary donation or by becoming a volunteer?

We gladly appreciate any monetary donations to the WP Community Fund* which helps to keep Bluecycle and our other welfare assistance programs going. You can also sign up to be a volunteer here and we will be in touch.

Thank you for your support!

*Please note that The Workers Party Community Fund (UEN: 201401272N) is an approved charity in Singapore although monetary donations are not tax-deductible.

What items can I offer to Bluecycle for matching?

Large furniture items such as sofas, TV consoles, dining & study tables, wardrobes, beds & mattresses or large household appliances such as refrigerators, washing machines and televisions.

We regret that we can only collect these when a matching recipient is identified as we do not have any place to store these items.

How long does it take to match the items I offered? Why didn’t anyone contact me after I submitted my item(s) to Bluecycle?

This may take anywhere from a few days to a few months. As not every item offered to us may be matched eventually, you may want to give your items away via other means if you need to dispose of them urgently.

Kindly note that you will only be contacted if a match has been found for any item(s) you offered to Bluecycle’s beneficiaries. We regret that we will not be able to provide a status update on the item(s) offered to us.

Do you accept items which are slightly damaged or items that require repair and/or installation?

All items offered to us should be in good working condition as we are not able to repair these. We seek your understanding that defective item(s) are not given to our beneficiaries. Kindly highlight to us if there is any damage or missing parts (e.g. remote control) to your item(s) and/or if it requires dismantling/assembly.

Where do you collect the item(s) you need from?

We collect matched item(s) from anywhere in mainland Singapore although it would be easier if these item(s) are in the East and Northeast regions where most of our beneficiaries reside.
